Gerard Cott RIP

Today we mourn the passing of our long-time friend and member, Mr. Gerard Cott.
In 2008 and 2009 he served as our President, and Vice President in the following two years and was later our committee chairperson. He was a regular attendee at the Monday Bingo selling the single sheets and calling for a time.
For 20 years Ger was the Vice-Principal of Midleton CBS Secondary school where he had also taught Physics & Maths. During his time in CBS, he worked closely with Denis Ring organising the construction of the basketball courts at the bottom of the field and training many Hurling teams including bringing the senior hurlers to the 1978 Corn Phadraig final.
Prior to coming to Midleton CBS, Ger taught in Coláiste Chríost Rí. He spent three years teaching in Nigeria and served as a Fine Gael TD for the Cork North-East Constituency from 1969 to 1973, choosing not to seek re-election in 1973.

Ger has left a lasting impact on our Union, the School, and the wider CBS community. He will be fondly remembered by those of us fortunate to have known him.
We extend our sympathies to his wife Denise, children Susan, Ashley, Dearbhla, Brian, Ger and his extended family and friends.

Ar dheis DĂ© go raibh a anam dĂlis.
