We in Midleton CBS Past Pupils Union are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of our most esteemed members, and former President, Canon Colman “Colie” O’Donovan, at the age of 97.
A proud past pupil of Midleton CBS, Canon Colie was a man of great faith, character, and sporting spirit. From his early days hurling on the roads of Youghal Road to his standout years with Midleton, and Cork, he lived a life devoted to both God and Gaelic games. His passion for hurling and football was matched only by his unwavering dedication to the priesthood, where he served faithfully for decades across Cork and beyond.
He was held in the highest regard — a man of integrity, wisdom, and quiet strength. His commitment to the Past Pupils Union was unwavering, and at our meetings, his presence always brought clarity, insight, and a steady hand to our conversations.
We are honoured to have counted him among us.
