The Past Pupils Union are very saddened to hear of the passing of our long term member and friend John McCarthy.
John was a great servant to the PPU from when he first joined us in 1988. He served as President in 1990 before becoming Treasurer from 1992 to 2002 among other roles he filled over the years. A very active member of the Union he rarely missed a committee meeting and was always at Bingo on Monday evenings.
John was always a loyal supporter of both schools and took great interest in the students and progress of the schools, often travelling to Harty Cup, Dean Ryan and Rice cup games and anything else the schools were competing in. The Monday evening discussions on these games with John will be missed.
We extended our sympathies to his wife Noelle, children Eoin, Brenda, Claire, Anne & Brian, grandchildren and extended family.
